Mortgage Payment Assistance

When the housing bubble burst in 2008, Florida was one of the hardest hit states in the country. Homeowners saw the value of their homes plummet, while their inflated payments only grew. The burden became too heavy for many residents, and foreclosure rates skyrocketed. The US Department of the Treasury stepped in with a program designed to help those facing additional hardship of job loss, reduced hours, disability, death, and divorce. If you have suffered any of these hardships, you may be eligible for Mortgage Payment Assistance.

When facing major hardship, financial strains quickly multiply: if you are like many Florida residents, and their families, losing your home is a very real fear. One missed payment becomes two and then three: soon, it seems as if there is no way to ever catch up. But  there is, and Divorce Helper can help you access the assistance you need.

What is Mortgage Payment Assistance?

This program is designed for Florida residents who are struggling to make their monthly payments or who have fallen severely behind. The goal of Mortgage Payment Assistance is to stabilize one part of your life, so that you can begin to regain control in others. Nothing is more important than a secure home.

The hardships mentioned above can trigger assistance up to $42,000. In addition, if you keep the property for five years, you don’t even have to pay that assistance back.  Mortgage Payment Assistance has allowed homeowners across Florida to weather difficult times and stay in their homes.

If you are “underwater,” or severely in debt, you may qualify for Principal Payment Reduction. In this case, you can access assistance of  up to $50,000. This reduces the principal of your first mortgage and helps decrease the loan-to-value ratio.

What do you need to know about this program?

  • It is for Florida residents only. There are programs just as helpful available in other states, though some details can be a little bit different. If you live outside of Florida, seek out the assistance you need! If you are a legal resident, Divorce Helper will help you get started.
